Running to me is a way of setting my mind and body free, no limits.

I love running. Many people do. You’re in the car passing by a park and you see people jogging, some fast, some relaxed but all of them doing the same thing with their legs, somewhat a universal pattern of people exercising. It’s kind of like listening to music whereby every person has their own preference and thus their own unique way of running.

But what if you’re like me who jogs to stay healthy and fit, you might find jogging the same road or path, the same way all the time a tad monotonous and repetitive. Sort of like a hamster on a wheel and a robot programmed to run specifically this way.

How I got new experiences from running.

So, I figured I would run differently today. And it felt so different and fresh. Like traveling to another country, where each sight is completely unfamiliar, I felt I journeyed to a different place.

The feeling was also something like being caught in a maze, where each direction you chose to run lead you to a different place, either by fate or just your own will, which in this scenario is your own choice. Left or right? Down this alleyway or up the hill? You won’t know where you will end up, but who doesn’t like a little suspense in life? A life where you can predict your every next action is unexciting and prosaic.

Running in a different area also filled me with complex emotions. At one point I was captured by the distinctiveness of each house I ran past (I ran in a housing area by the way). And another I had a perception of danger, due to the alien place I was running at, I kept my guard up to protect myself from any threats. Which made me increase my running speed and motivated me to keep on going.

There’s just something about running in a foreign setting that gave me the same exact feeling I had when traveling to a foreign country. It was exciting.

Call To Action

  1. Go to that cool park you saw when going back home and have a jog there. It will be fun, trust me. Running is a beautiful activity that benefits you physically and mentally. You should never find excuses to not run as you would sit down at home regretting that you should have gone running.
  2. Call up a friend. Ask him to recommend any good places to run and do it with him. Having someone to run with you is a great idea and should be a practice.
  3. Go to Google and search up reviews and suggestions good places to run and have a nice little jog. You can find anything online, this should not be a problem.
  4. Get your shoes and GO RUN!

Before you go!

Do remember that safety is very important when running at places you’re not familiar with. Make sure you’re with an adult. If you’re an adult, make sure you are not running in dark areas and run when there is sunlight if possible. Be safe guys, the world is not a dangerous place but it just has cruel people who do bad things.

Thank you and God bless!
